Snoring & Sleep Apnea
Loud snoring is often a signal that something is wrong with one’s breathing during sleep. Snoring that is not associated with apnea or other serious conditions can often be reduced by in office treatments. However, enlarged tonsils or nasal blockage may require surgical removal.
A sleep study is necessary to diagnose sleep apnea. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is usually recommended first for adults with sleep apnea. An office evaluation is necessary to evaluate anyone unable to use or tolerate CPAP to determine if other options including surgery are available.
Outpatient procedures include radiofrequency base of tongue, tonsillectomy, uvulectomy and hyoid suspension.
