A pediatric adenoidectomy is performed with the use of general anesthesia.  This procedure lasts approximately 15 minutes, and patients will be ready to leave the surgery center 2 hours after their arrival.

After Surgery

Patients may experience mild pain and discomfort after the adenoidectomy, but this irritation should subside after 1 to 2 days. Immediately following the surgery, a normal level of activity may be resumed.

Following this procedure, out of town patients are cleared for next-day travel, and there is no need to schedule a follow-up appointment with a pediatrician or family physician.
