Neck Mass Biopsy (Superficial)

Under brief general anesthesia, a small incision is made to biopsy or remove a neck mass just under the skin. Absorbable sutures or tissue glue is used and the tissue removed is sent to the pathology lab. This procedure usually take 30 minutes.

After Surgery

Recovery is quick with minimal to no pain. Patients may return to a normal diet after the procedure.

Out of town patients are cleared for travel the next day. No follow-up is necessary unless otherwise recommended. Routine biopsy results are usually available 5 business days after the procedure is performed.
