Rhinoplasty

A rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that reshapes the nose for aesthetic or functional reasons.

Surgery takes approximately 1 ½ hours, with most patients ready to return home after 2.5 – 3 hours. The pain score is surprisingly low – 2/10 for the first two days, and it quickly resolves.

After Surgery

Nasal bleeding is common the first day. Localized swelling and bruising on the outside gradually improves over one to two weeks.

Any sutures used are absorbable. No nasal packing is used. A splint is placed on the outside of the nose.

Patients may remove the tape as directed. We recommend saline irrigation and the use of ointment until your nose has healed completely. Patients may resume normal activities after three days, but reduce physical activity for one week.

Out of town patients are cleared for travel the next day. No follow-up is necessary or as directed.
